The Messenger Ring is a magical ring given to Harlan Underford by Marius Verman during the Siege of Fairhaven. It contains a magically encoded message that designates Harlan as the official representative of Verman and by extension of the Mages Guild, and grants him access to the Academy of Magics in Zul.
