+* Fynwell Knighly Orders - are a noble tradition that dates to the ancient past when Fynwell was a feudal monarchy. Originally the knights were appointed by the king, but ever since the monarchy was abolished, the orders vet their own candidates via the squire system. To become a knight, one must squire under a knight for a period of at least five years after which time said knight may recommend them to the order. Recommendation must be supported by at least six other knights, to be approved by a Grand master. The new knights conduct reflects directly on those who recommended him, so most knights do not take such decision lightly. Becoming a knight involves taking sacred vows, and devoting one's life to the orders primary mission. The most famous knightly order is that of the White Knights who patrol and protect the Flatside district from invaders, bandits or goblin war bands.

At it's center is the gigantic Red Mesa, a tall flat topped rocky mesa, on top of which lies the ancient walled city built by the cities founders. The city has grew around it spreading in all directions and reshaping the landscape forever. Where once stood forests, swamps, ancient ruins, or remains of ancient eldritch beasts slain by the gods, now there are buildings, towers and cobblestone streets. Standing on the highest tower of Red Mesa all one can see to the horizon is sprawling cityscape.
