Mages Guild
The Eoran Mages Guild is one of the largest and most organized guilds in the world. Most wizards, as well as those who work in magic adjacent professions are members.
The primary mission of the guild is training and education of new wizards, as well as creation and maintenance of magical artifacts such as the Teleportation Circles which connect all the active Guild Halls and many of other important locations.
The main Guild Hall is located in the city of Zul on Zorander Isle.
The ranking members of the guild are formally organized into Orders. There are 20 orders in total, and they signify the seniority of the wizard within the organization. The students of the Academy of Magics on the Zorander Isle are formally inducted into the 20th order, which is the lowest ranked order. Wizards can be promoted to higher orders through their service to the guild, or by graduating one of the colleges, becoming a tenured lecturer and conducting viable research that furthers the understanding of magic in the world.
The first and second orders are mostly dominated by Elves and other long lived species, because achieving such level of mastery in magic, and such a high position takes more than a single human lifetime of hard work, and utter dedication to the guild. That said, exceptions are made for especially brilliant wizards who discover something revolutionary, or if they are especially adept at guild politics.
The founding member of the Mages Guild was the legendary Zedicus the Seer.
