The legendary Zedicus the Seer. Or sometimes called Zedicus the seeker of knowledge. Zedicus the Seeker. Zedicus the Great. Every next translation of his ancient texts translates his obnoxiously difficult to spell title in a brand new way.

This ancient wizard took upon him so many apprentices that he needed to hire his colleagues to help teach them, eventually founding the first Academy of Magics. Then again, a conflicting story claims that the only thing he was famous for was his legendary laziness and eternal hunger. He would often walk around naked and have full conversations with chickens he would take with him on his midday strolls around the countryside.

As he was too important and powerful to actually do any physical labor, he took on many apprentices to do his laundry, cook his food, scribe his books and letters, and generally take care of him. So many apprentices in fact that he ended up teaching entire classrooms of them. Eventually he grew tired of wasting time teaching so he hired a younger wizard to teach his students in his stead. Hiring a teacher cost him money, so he would charge his apprentices for the lessons, thus the first tuition charge was invented. Over the span of years this evolved into the first Academy of Magics and also a sweat shop that produced bargain price scrolls on the side. These are the stories of Zedicus the Great.
