Red Mesa District is the oldest part of Fynwell, and it is commonly referred to as Old Town. It was built on a flat topped hill that rises above the surrounding plains. It was the original founding site of the city, and is the seat of the Fynwell Senate and the site of the Fynwell Citadel and some of the cities oldest temples.
The mesa naturally rises above the city that sprawls around it, and it is only accessible via set of elevators and guarded pathways. During the days petitioners and faithful are admitted freely, but at night the access is restricted only to Old Town residents, members of the government or specifically authorized persons.
The most notable landmarks are:
- The Dawn Gate - the ancient main city gate that was never breached
- The Landsmeet - the seat of the House of Lords
- The Forum - the seat of the House of Commons
- The Chapterhouse - the seat of the Small Council
- The First Court - the seat of the High Court of Fynwell
